It’s silly, but I cringe when the Taurus glyph looks like bug antenneas…

Aesthetically pleasing glyph design

Like I said, it might sound a bit silly or unimportant, but I take issue when I see the Astrological symbol for Taurus a certain way. It’s become commonplace to see it this way too. I’m referring to the way the glyph has devolved into what appears to be insect antenne in pics: #1-2 below.

Originally, the Taurean glyph was meant to be drawn with a crescent moon shape sitting atop a sphere. This makes perfect sense since the Moon is exalted in the sign of Taurus. To exalt means, ‘to raise to a higher status,’ and the crescent shape looks a lot like a crown when drawn properly. The strange and inaccurate versions look more like antennae sitting atop bug heads in my non-humble opinion…

In modern times, the sign of Taurus has unfortunately been depicted as somewhat of an endearingly stubborn simpleton. Consequently, rendering the symbol this way is not only inaccurate; it also adds to certain erroneous stereotypes while simultaneously subtracting dignity points from a sign whose mission includes: the observation and steadfast guidance of light as it’s manifested into physical form! This is no small feat. It requires tremendous strength and will. Our perception of physical reality would quickly cease to exist without guidance of the Light. Only unwavering determination will suffice. Therefore, this sacred, primal duty is beholden unto none other than Taurus. In addition, Taurus is thought to be ‘ruled’ by Venus. This means harmony and beauty in the physical world is more than just eye candy to Taurus. It’s somewhere closer to that of necessity. Perhaps this explains why so many born under this sign of the bull are thought to be materialistic. That may be true for some, but the vast majority of Taurean folks I’ve met are far from materialistic. They tend to see the importance and need for beauty and quality as it relates to the physical world. I found many incredible, unique insights about the Taurus glyph on this website. The author reiterates on some of what I’ve said here, but there’s much more to ponder. She talks about each of the zodiac signs in depth as well.

In case you haven’t guessed, I am a native Taurean. By saying this, I mean that my Sun sign is in the constellation of Taurus. The Sun sign is all that most people know about themselves in regards to Astrology here in the West, but it’s certainly not the only astrological placement with as much significance.

The Rising sign, also known as the Ascendant, is just as influential as the Sun sign. Some Astrologers even say the Ascendant is more influence than the Sun sign, or any other placement for that matter. This is a whole ‘nother topic though.

It’s interesting to note that Taurus is considered a highly spiritual sign in esoteric traditions. The bull itself has been revered for millennia, even to that of god-like status. In India, bovine are considered highly sacred and they are certainly not a part of the edible world.

In conclusion; depicting Taurus with this strange rendition of it’s original, ancient glyph just seems so wrong. Show an ancient bull some respect and draw the symbol correctly. Pics #3-6 show examples which more closely match that of it’s original, intended shape. Note: I wrote this all in fun but it is how I feel about the matter. *shrugs*

It’s a no for me…
Image 1. Incorrectly drawn symbol for Taurus.

The following four images represent a better, more accurate representation of the Taurean symbol. Do you agree? Comment below!

A correct rendition of Taurian symbol.
Pic #3: Yes! This is more like it. Please; no more bug heads or antennae 🐂🟡💫
Pic 4. Correct symbol for Taurus.
Pic #4: Yes, a beautiful rendition of the Taurean symbol.

Pic #5: Most modern material will equate Taurus to the Heirophant card in Tarot. However, I see a striking correlation (& resemblance) to the High Priestess card, which happens to be #2 in the deck. Taurus is the second zodiac sign on the wheel.

Pic 6 colorful & accurate Taurian symbol.

Pic #6: Another example of the correct shape of the Taurus glyph.
